Anyone know anything about getting the air to recirculate on any other setting than Max Air? My X really sucks in exhaust fumes during city driving and it used fresh air for all settings except Max Air.

Welcome Roget....
what year and Engine do u have....
on some there was an issue with the y-pipe in the exhaust that developed a crack and would let the exhaust enter the air intake of the cabin....

Call your Ford dealer and ask them if it is a recall - after all - tht IS a safety concern....

That is something I'd like to mod is a hot recirculate button/switch for the standard heat/AC controls.

I know the Electronic Heat/AC control with display can use recirculate on each setting except for Defrost.

Does anyone else's AC run on the panel/floor mode? I don't remember mine originally doing this, nor has it done it in any of my other Fords, but it seems like my X developed this feature in the past year or so. I actually kind of like it, but I don't think it's supposed to do so. It's nice having cool air blowing on the floor in the summer time.

Anyone else's do this?

I actually call it Bi-Level so it's a Yes for our 2002.

Maybe I'm not understanding your question about recirculation, but in my Ex I just punch the button in any mode to get interior air. Does yours not have a recirc button?

Speaking of air, I just had my 04' EB in the shop for the second AC recharge in a year. Two service departments have checked for leaks without finding anything. Anyone know of where a very slow leak might occur which isn't visible to the mechanics?

Did the dealer actually open the evaporator compartment? Most dealers or service techs leave this out because of the difficulty of the operation.

No, he didn't open that compartment because it was "hard to get to". Isn't that why we go to the dealer - so they can do the things we can't?

That is probably the leaking point, and most electronic leak detectors will not read that area due to it being sealed. Unless you have ext. warrenty a dealer is useless....but that is another story for another day. Good luck
