According to the (not-so-detailed) drawing in the "handy" Owner's Guide Supplement for the 7.3, the fuel filter is somewhere under the hood, slightly to the passenger side of the engine.

OK...now that is settled..can anyone tell me where it is ACTUALLY located?

I must be blind but I can't find it.

Thx.

It's right under the black plastic cover with Powerstroke on it.

OK I found it. The yellow lever is directly BEHIND my fuel filter housing though.

I took of the decorative cover and found it right away. I dumped about 1/4 of a pint from it. I hope I'm good to go now. I didn't change the filter cause I'm too lazy to go get one now but I'll change it next time i go the parts store.

Also, the cover bolts had rusted to the mount and they wrung off when I cranked down on them

I'll leave that project for another day. Besides I like the way it looks without the cover...more rugged. HA.

Thx for all your help.

You have the cleanest truck engine/ oil pan etc I've ever seen. How do you keep it so clean?

Actually that's not my engine,it's from another owner's truck

But the engine in our truck is indeed that clean most of the time when my wife isn't puddle jumping the Excursion

Two things that helped is we left dusty dirty Kafilornia for Texas and re-routing the CCV eliminated all oil residue from the intercooler, intake, boost tubes, boots and clamps. That's something I get complimented at each truck meet
