Those are what I'm talkin' about.

Here is the link I provide earlier in the thread for ordering info. Get the husky mat, they are great in all conditions.

Currently I have both the short bed and lond bed mats for the cargo area. The short mat is for the area behind the third row and the long mat covers the area when the third row bench is removed. I'm looking into getting the driver side/ passenger side this week. As shown above the Ford OEM mat are crappy in the winter and the carpets get covered in road salt. If I can get the front mats in Canada for a good price I'll clean the front carpets and install them.

Eric thanks for the pic, nice to see the front husky mats in action.

I've been reading for awhile at this forum..but this is my first post.

I just bought an '05 XLT, and was trying to get a set of front and rear flaps. Ford makes (IMHO) the best fitting flaps.

At least for my XLT, the front Husky ones' holes were too near the edge of the fender to drill. Maybe this is due to the cladding along the bottom of the XLT fender. The front Ford ones fit nice and require (if memory serves) only one hole to the drilled...and I think that is only through this plastic as SD fenders have holes for attachment already.

From Ford, Rears are not available for an '05 XLT..but are for the earlier Exs. They have a recess on them for that "spat" that goes along the quarter panel at the bottom. Obviously, mine does not have this so they would not fit right.

As for the fronts rubbing...with all the clearance, I can;t imagine that being an issue...but I have yet to install mine. I really wanted a full set...but may have to settle for just fronts. I also have problems with drilling holes into the fender unless really necessary. (Maybe I have to revisit these Huskys and see if I can drill the flap to match the truck.)

Hey Matt,
I had Ford put my front flaps on and they did drill to mount them. The main problem was the flap is not thin, it has a raised section to keep it level against the wheel. This raised section is what Ford messed up on.

I have removed my front flaps and noticed that they had rubbed on the fendar flares and remove a smallsection of paint. All and all it was a waste of 50 bucks and I now have an X with drill holes and scratch fendar flares. I'll post a pic later tonight to show you what I'm talking about.

PS. My front husky mats (black) are on order and I should have them next week. Eric, did you get the center hump cover?.

Good luck.

Thanks for the welcome!

While I bought a set of fronts from my dealer, I have yet to put them on. I looked at a '05 SD and saw that you remove a fastener from underneath, and use mostly existing holes...expect they are hidden b the cladding of my XLT.

Some friends have an auto parts store and they ordered the Huskys for me today. They will be in tomorrow. When they first had a front set in..I did not like how close the holes were to the edge. I am thinking that in order to have fronts and rears, I will use the existing holes in the fenders and drill the flaps to fit the truck. There are two holes on each fender lip. These holes currently retain the cladding. (I'm gonna have to do something similar on my '03 Cobra as the body is really taking a beating.)

One way to help eliminate the paint being chafed is to use some Scotchcal clear tape. Clean the surface, cut out the desired shape..then install the flap over it. This keeps the flap from contacting the paint.

For me, drill + Excursion = unhappy...so i do all I can to avoid drilling.

Matt,

After you do the install of the Husky's could you post a picture?

I'm still debating the whole flap thing, I'm leaning toward the Husky flaps. I'd skip the hole idea other than the slop on the boards bugs me more than which flap to buy.

Any pictures that you guys can post would be great.

As for the mats, the Catch-All mats are what I like. http://www.niftyproducts.com/

Here is a picture after the Ford OEM mud flap was installed (by Ford) and removed (by me). As you ca n see there are rub marks after a few months and drill holes in the wheel well.

My Husky mats will be in next week and will be installed once the carpets are cleaned.

Cheers
