I used it about 25 years ago in a Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser. The system I had was gravity-fed, and consisted of a venturi-shaped porous jacket of water surrounding the air intake. The venturi would atomize the water vapor better than an injection system. A supply tank was mounted at a higher location (I had to remember to shut the valve or it would slowly seep water into the venturi when I parked the truck). No motor or pump. The methanol was more for freeze protection than anything. Though the methanol did help a bit 'cause I could tell a difference when I ran straight tap water. Small displacement engines generally see a bigger benfit from this system, though it does help all engines (the Land-Crusher had a 258c.i. inline 6 ... tractor motor). Ever notice how your engine "feels" like it has a bit more power when it's raining? |
