They were part of the recall about a year ago. They are horrible in the snow w/4WD! I think the originals were Firestone's and much better. |

I'll give the Scorpion AT's a thumbs up for better performance on snow and standing water roads compared to the Steeltex' on our Excursion,I know from experience that adjusting tire pressure makes a big difference when it comes to snow/wet/ice handling.

What air pressure are you running in your Pirelli Scorpions? I am 55 rear and 50 front around town and increase rear when I have a tow.
Thanks |

I run at 65 front/60 rear to make up for the front bumper and they're almost perfect for standing water, almost like cutting thru butter with a hot knife..
We had a winter trip planned for Phoenix and up thru the northern Sierra Nevadas but cancelled our fun in the snow due to rescheduling

Mine don't look like that. I'll get the model in the morning. |

I think you have the Scorpion STR "All Season" radials which I would not take on snow at all and them going on a 4x4 would make no sense to me but on a 4x2 would be a different story.

I can understand your disapproval clearly
If you get caught on snowpack I'd suggest cable chains or standard links to help get positive traction.
Check out http://tirechain.com/ if you're in the market for them.
I personally like Z chains from Security Chain Company

Are these Scorpions that much different than the Steeltex I had as original equipment? Maybe it was just the type of snow I was in. Was about 15deg and the snow was just packing into clumps on the street. Sorta like driving on bannana peels.
