OK we got a little snow here in Baltimore (3 inches) and I went to play and the dang thing wouldnt shift into 4 high!!?? I stopped and switched the hubs from auto to manual and every thing was well. Tried again and nothing. They worked last when I replaced my hubs...hmmmm I might have something here. They are calling for a whopper of a snow storm here this week end so I will wait and read everyones ideas where I should start to look for the problem.. I know the first thing is to remove the hubs and clean them real well. Any ideas????????

Are you able to turn em from auto to manual? Have you sprayed the soaker stone with some lubricant as it'll pull alot of WD40,3 in 1 or whatnot in to keep the dial free.
If they are turning okay is the vacuum hoses on tight going to the axle,if there's a leak in the vacuum you'll only get air out of the defroster vents.

Scott,
Having just taken apart most of my front end from ball joints, here's what I'd check from what I remember about re-assembly:
1.) Hubs, like you mentioned. Clean 'em, make sure they are greased, etc.
2.) There's a $2.50 yellow o-ring that seals the hub -- it may be torn and prevening the electronic shift on the fly from working.
3.) The vacuum line itself may be disconnected or cracked. When I removed mine, the ends were very brittle, so I snipped off about 3/4" and reconnected them. The vacuum line connects to the top of the knuckle just behind the disc brake shield, if I remember correctly.
4.) If all those check out and it still works, then it might be an issue with the electronic control of the transfer case.
My guess is that it's #2 or #3.
Good luck, I know how fun it is to play in the snow! I would hate to not have 4x4 working for a big snowfall!!
