I need to know where i can find a good roof top cargo box for my X. Iv'e got five kids and lugage to pile in the back for our trip to FL spring break and i would like the extra room.

I am assuming that most models use the roof top sliders that come stock with the X, I need to know where I can find a couple of these. One of them was stolen and the other was destroyed when my wife desided to attempt to park in a parking garage. Does anyone have a pair they would be willing to sell or know where i can get them?

Hi Marshall,
We have a roof top carrier that we purchased at Sears a few years ago. Has about 20 cubic feet of storage space. Have you given any thought to a hitch mounted carrier ? The more I travel with three kids and all the extras we carry, I'm personnally am getting tired of loading/unloading stuff off the roof. . I also had to buy the Yakima cross braces to give a little more clearance to prevent rubbing. The more I look at the hitch mounted type the more I like them

ONLY problem with a hitch mounted one is limited space/weight and it STOPS any access thru the rear doors....
not good when the dogs have to go 'out'

We been looking at purchasing one of the hitch mounted baskets for our trips as the liftgate gets used mostly.

Don't have no dogs for now

No kids for us...our German Shephard gets free reign over the middle section of the X when we travel! All luggage goes behind the third row seat. With the middle row folded down, it gives him plenty of room to move around and smear up the windows with his snout.

Don't the roof top carriers have a space weight limit, either from the mfg. of the carrier as well as the vehicle?. Found this website (www.sportomotoring.com) that has hitch mounted carriers that swivel 180 degrees to allow access to the rear doors. If my memory serves me right, you are allowed 200lbs in the carrier that is described. Don't remember any specific dimesions or sizes.
