Three weeks ago I replaced this truck http://www.themoss.net/boss54/IMG1.JPG with a 2001 Ford Excursion 4X4 V10 Limited. It has taken some getting used to. The Boss 4.5 was more sporty! But the thrill of accelleration is still there with this V10 Engine :tongue: The switch was hard but nessessary, a single cab pickup will not hold me, my wife and two small children complete with two child car seats all at the same time. The Excursion was my only choice for a replacement vehicle, it was the only thing I considered, It is an awesome truck. I do have a couple of questions, I have searched the forms and not found any topics that cover this. The dash trim piece the goes around instrument panel and radio, does it pull off(as it did on my F150)? I tried to pull it off and only the area near the radio started to come off. The area near the instrument panel felt like there was too much resistance, i was afraid of breaking it. :shoot: Not good. I need to route some wires behind there and dont want them hanging out of the bottom of the dash near my feet. My second question is: I have heard that there is a battery protection circuit on the X? If so has anyone had any problems with this system? Last friday we were enjoying some great weather (-5) and the X would not turn over, not even once! Imagine my embarrasement when I had to use my wifes Honda Element to jump start it! :wink: What is the stock alternator rated at? Has anyone upgraded to a higher amp rating? Or installed a better battery? All in all I have great big smiles when I drive the X. I am going to install some new shocks and an anti sway bar, perhaps Land Yot's Radius Rods. :king: Thanks in advance for your advice. -Art

Yessir!

I actually have 2 Alpine decks installed. The CDA-9827 (CD/mp3 player) runs through the CVA-1005 (LCD display/brain).

I don't know where I read it at but I thought the X's were Din and a half,I must have it confused with another thread somewhere

I just replaced a 190 amp Powerline Alt. back to the stock setup (down sizing stereo for space). Ford calls for a 115 amp stock on the v10, but does carry a 130 amp set that will fit. I would not recommend the Motorcraft simply because of the warrenty, only one year, a good aftermarket will be cheaper and usually a 2 year or more warrenty. Any questions feel free to ask. Andy
