Ok...I just bought a 2003 V10 Limited 4x4 in December and love it. It is my first real "truck" and don't know much other than what I have read the last two months. Now my wife wants one. Here are my choices:

1. 2003 Tan Limited 4x4 V10; 70K miles; no extended warranty (no other special options)

2. 2004 Red XLT 4x4 5.4L; Quad Seats; 12k miles; some warranty left (no other special options)

Both of these are listed at $22k.

I obviously already have a V10 if I need heavy towing so what would you do and why??

My wife will primarily be driving this newer X in town with my eleven year old daughter (and her friends) and 1 year old twins when I am working etc. This would be 10-30 miles max per trip, less than three days a week.

I would like to hear the thoughts of folks who know more than me!

How long do you plan on owning the 2nd X and how many miles per year do you plan to put on it?

Without knowing your answer to the above questions, I would still opt for the V10. Limited trim package, more power, better resale than the V8...even though it has 70K on it already.

Well since I will have two X's I will split duty. So no more than 8-10k miles per year, per vehicle on the one I have and the one I am going to buy.

I would like to have both X's at LEAST 3 years.

Run, don't walk to the V10. There have been instances of transmission problems witgh the V8--gear hopping. Too much truck for that engine! It really isn't as robust as you would like in an Expedition
