Hi
I am new to the board. I have a 2002 PSD Excursion just at 30,000 miles. About three weeks ago my batteries died on a road trip. I left my truck idling while I went into a rest area and when I came out my headlight were flashing. When I got in the truck the gages were going from off to on over and over and then all the lights shut off. I replaced one battery in it as I had one extra with me and made it home. I then went and bought to new batteries. However the power door locks, the keyless entry, do not work now. the remote only opens the drivers door. the noisy door chime doesn't work. the radio no longer shuts off with the truck and the dome light that comes on when the doors open do not work. The auto headlights do not work. Yesterday , I took another road trip and the truck was idling again and shut off and wouldn't start again. So I replaced the batteries again and made it home. Today I replaced the alternator as auto zone tested it and it tested bad. HOwever , everything else still doesn't work. Anyone ever experienced this before?? |

Welcome to the Excursion forum Have you made a once over on all the fuses? Before your batteries went belly up your alternator may have shot the electrical system with too much voltage thus knocking out a fuse or two in the process.
Not positive on a bum voltage regulator as I have no had the same situation.
Our 2002 has 30k on the odo as well.

Are you the original owner of your Excursion? Since you're under 36,000 miles, I would take it in and have the dealer look at it under the 36,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty. If you're the second owner however, you're S.O.L.
It definitely sounds like you've got a blown fuse or two. Odd that your alternator was already bad at such an early age. I have 135k miles on my '00 X and haven't had to replace the alternator or the batteries yet.

Check to make sure the grounding wire to the block is good. |
