Spoke to my new car manager and he said he spoke to his regional manager and that the 2006 Excursion is going into full production.

Did they "regional manager" state when they start taking orders for the 2006 models?

No order dates.
just said that truck will be produced for at least one more year.
speculation is that they will keep it alive until they can replace it with something new, ie: Expediton extended version.
I have always felt this would be the case. There is no way FORD would hand over their market share of this type of vehicle to GM.

I was reading an Excursion thread the other day (can't remember which site), and someone who worked at KTP said the X WILL NOT be produced after September.
I am a former Ford employee myself (didn't work at KTP) and have some friends who still work there. I asked someone to find out and the answer they got was the X is dead after September '05.
I'd love to put off buying my X until next year as I am only considering this year due to the iminent discontinuation. However information like this is often spotty. Even to insiders such as employees.
If the quote from the KTP employee is real, I would believe him first. They usually have a longer horizon on production as the assembly lines have to tool up, make adjustments etc.
Who knows. |
