Long time since on the site.... Finally got a awesome computer!

Have a question! Was out 4 wheelin yesterday and needed 4 wheel drive flipped the switch and there was none. So I then threw it in neutral and tried 4 Low still nothing. Turned it back to normal position put it in park, got out locked in the hubs and there it was. Tried the switch later and still nothing unless I lock them in manually???

Any ideas or directions? Other than dealership!

Charles welcome back

Almost sounds like the hub seals needs rebuilding if they manual lock in otherwise the ESOF vacuum would draw them in.

I will check the hose and hit it with some WD40 and if still nothing I'll pull the hubs! It looks easy enough looks just like 4 bolts hold it on to I guess the spindle... Will it just come right out once the bolts are off? Also do you by chance know what to torque them back down to? Thanks all I really missed the website and glad im back on!

Charles,

To replace the yellow seal around the hub, you will need to do the following:

1.) Remove the wheel
2.) Remove the caliper
3.) Remove the rotor
4.) Remove the c-clip from around the locking hub. A needle nose pliers will do.
5.) While turning and pulling on the locking hub, tap it with a wood block or hammer to ease it out
6.) Remove the ABS sensor
7.) Remove the 4 nuts that hold the hub assembly on the back of the knuckle. You will need to pound this with a hammer while turning it to loosen it. Use a flat-edge screwdriver to help pry this away from the steering knuckle assembly. This part will take the longest...it's not difficult, just a lot of pounding.
8.) Once removed, simply take off the old yellow seal and install the new one. This is the easiest part!
9.) Re-assemble!

As for the torque of the 4 nuts, 133 ft-lbs.

E-Long thanks for all the help!

I looked over the top of the tire on the drivers side and that hose was cracked so I trimed it, put it back on and zip tied it.

Then went to the other side and all was good and tight. But I noticed the other end of that same hose was disconnected so I found where it went through that plate attached to the frame. Was real tight so I didnt re-attach it through the plate and just let it hang free. Zip tied both connections and went back to the other side to free up the tension in that line also and zip tied it to. Must be tight due to the lift. Must have came disconnected when I was out last time, hit the mountains with alot of extension of the suspension.

Also hit the hubs with some WD40 and a few twists between auto and and lock positions. Got in and hit the switch ALL IS WELL!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks again to all on this awesome website and will continue to recommend to all owners!!!!!!!

Great to hear you're wheeling again there Charles

In most circumstances you'll know if you have a vacuum leak if your heat/AC air only comes out the defrost vents which can be caused by one of the front hoses are disconnected/leaking for the front hubs.
