I have a Video Cassette Player and Monitor in my second row and want to add a DVD player. The VCP is under one of the captain's chairs and I want to put the DVD under the other.

What's the procedure for taking the head liner apart to run the video cables? Which manual best describes this? Haynes or Chilton?

Any tips for cushioning the DVD player? I was thinking of a tray of water with some kind of floating device. (that was a joke people, work with me here.)

I bought a cheapo home unit. Thought I'd take my chances. And yes, I have a power inverter.

i dont think a home player will work. they are very sensitive to shock. like hitting bumps in the road i mean. if you were looking for a cheaper player then have a look at the marlon davis type. i think that is the name. if not then pretty close. they are the under seat mount type and they are already designed for raod conditions.

I would have to agree...my home DVD player skips if you breathe on it. Portable DVD players are in the $200-300 range nowadays, so you can go that route if you find the home DVD player skips too easily.

We bought a $49 home DVD/MP3/CD/CD-RW player a couple years ago at Best Buy to use in the Excursionfor the rats, hooked it up to an inverter connected to two 7.2" LCD screens on the head rests.

The unit has not skipped once and it's mounted under the second row seat on the floor.

If anything the DVD players need proper ventilation(under, around and sides) for dampening I'd place the player on something like a small cutting board then on a square of bedding cushion/padding.

Does your VCP have Auxiliary Audio/Video iputs to accept from the DVD player?

Yes, it does have the aux plugs, although they are front mounted. I guess for a camcorder hookup or something. I realize it may not work. But heck, it cost $38 at Best Buy and plays MP3, -r, -rw, +r, +rw, etc. I also have a +r/+rw DVD recorder in my house, so I wanted to make sure it'd play the plus format.

I figure since I have new shocks, Landyot radius rods (which are awesome), helwig sway bar, new michelin tires, and new rear rotors, it's as good as it'll ever be.

So anybody ever take the head liner down? -bucksfan

I've had the headliner partially down to install some antennas in the roof,I went down the driver's side to route the cables up.
