My X is sitting down the street right now. I have error codes p0340 and p0344. It would run for a minute then die. Has anyone seen this yet? Does anyone know where the cam sensor is located and perhaps the sensor connector?

Thanks

jessestohrer,

Sorry, I cannot help you with locating the CPS but what you describe certainly is characteristic of CPS failure. I had the same happen to my X (at 85,000 miles).

First off Jesse,Welcome to the Excursion forums

The CPS is one of the most finicky electrical parts on a 7.3L Powerstroke,I can vouch for going down that road a few times scratching my head

Check out the CPS Thread at SuperDutyDiesel as it has a ton of information and the members there have a great wealth of experience when it comes to 7.3L's

Post up some pics of your Excursion so we can check out the ride

Awsome help, I appologize for not researching more thoroughly, I was in a panic, the X is my commuter. I have ordered the part and will be removing the bad sensor today. I really am very impressed . Thanks for the help.

Bill,
I did get the part from powerstrokeparts and was pleasantly suprised at the cost. I checked the part with Shucks and they wanted over $150.00 plus they were 3 days out. I ordered through powerstrokeparts with over night delivery ($32.00 OND that showed up at 0900 the next day) at a cost of $119.00. I had the part in at 0920 and was on my way down 5 South at 0930. No kidding, if I didn't get lucky with the codes and if it weren't for this web site I would still be immobile. I am changing the head gasket on my 96 2.0L Contour (not fun ) right now so I had no spare transport.

Thanks Again
Jesse
