Hey Gang, I got an 01 PSD with 58000 Miles. Looking for advice on when to flush the Tranny? I

dont pull a whole lot. I did pull a Bobcat a couple weekends in a row, probably a total of 60 miles.

Other than that, I pull a 4 wheeler a couple times a year! Thanks

Hi Mark,

I'll assume you've got a 4x4 seeing as how you're in MN.

Ford's maintenance schedule recommends changing transmission fluid at 30k, 60k, 90k, and 120k for an '01 PSD X.

You can always see your full maintenance schedule by going to this link:

Glad you asked -- I'm overdue for a trans fluid change!

Hi
I just had my 01's tranny fluid changed at the ford dealer $218. The service manager told me that Flushing is not necessary because the Torque convertor has a drain plug, They flushed mine any way and dropped the pan and changed the filter as well.

This could be a diy project with both drain plugs in the pan and convertor, I was also told the pan seal is designed to be reused.

I wanted to put synthetic fluid in the trans and two different Ford dealers recommended against using in an 01 model They said if truck was an 03 no problem, I don't know why, but accepted thier recommendation.

I would also recommend doing your transfer case, and differentials at this time, did my own and really needed it at 58k

Do not discard the gasket unless damaged. This is a reusable gasket.
Apply a light coat of petroleum jelly to hold the gasket to the fluid pan.
Install the pan with the gasket. Alternately tighten the bolts to 11 Lb-ft each.
