Has anyone put one of these on a 6.0...I ordered one, but the shop I took it too today, said it was too long to fit, so they basically refused to try to put it on.

Tell them to buy a sawzall to cut off the excess pipe.

I would instead go to another muffler shop. This is such a no-brainer to install for any competent shop!

Absoloutely hit another shop that isn't afraid to use a sawzall

I ordered it from Black Cloud. Stopped by a Meineke. The guy seemed nice enough. Put the truck on the lift for free, then said it wouln't fit. I took a look, didn't actually measure, but it looked like it would have been a tight fit, plus the factory muffler enty/exit was offset, so somehow that would need to be compensated for.

Go to a custom exhaust shop. I'm not sure of the Meineke guys even have a pipe bender in their shops since they typically deal with replacing entire exhaust systems, mufflers, catalytic converters with factory-fitting parts.

A custom exhaust shop will have no problem cutting the existing exhaust to fit the length of the new muffler. If it's offset a bit, they'll just take the appropriate length of new exhaust pipe, flare the edges to fit around the existing exhaust and new muffler. It's a quick job for any custom exhaust shop.

Thanks for the info. I guess I thought it was going to be such a simple job that any exhaust / muffler shop could tackle it. Just wanted to double check that this was a doable thing before trying to locate another shop with more competency /creativity.
The guy at Meineke, didn't think too highly of the Walker name either. Hope these things last, because even at $60 + install, if they don't lastmore than a year or two, that could start adding up to a 4" exhaust system pretty quickly.
Custom exhaust shop...I suspect I'll have to go towards Houston to find one of those. If anyone can recomend one on this side of town, it would be appreciated. Otherwise I guess I'll just take my chances with the yellow pages.

Some of the best shops are located in the boondocks -- you'd be surprised! The yellow pages is a good start. Otherwise if you see someone with dual exhaust on their pickup, ask them where they had it done. Seems like every other pickup around here has custom exhaust.

Considering the Meineke guy said it was "not possible" to install the muffler on your truck, I wouldn't value his opinion much on the Walker product...clearly he's not familiar enough with them to even be able to install them. What poor customer service, anyway. I've never understood how one can show up with money in hand to pay for a service, only to hear that it can't be done and "oh by the way, the product you chose is inferior." I need to be in a business where I can say "NO" to my customers. That'd be the life!

Dang, again, I HAVE to agree with E....

I've found the best muffler/exhaust shop in the area is a couple of south of the border guys with their families running around the shop and running it.... in a converted gas station....
Great job, great prices... and they've done more than just simple exhaust inserts....

Hard to believe the Meineke guys response...
course it's not his shop, nor his product, and obviously not very motivated

If it was Meineke I could see why they would not want to install it partly due to that you didn't purchase it from them, that's not the first time I've heard that with carry-in mufflers/exhaust systems

Definitely hit one of the shops Eric stated as they'll take care of ya.

Our BTM has been on our Excursion for almost 3 years now and can't see why it won't still be on there for another 20 years

Thanks for the reassurance. I 'll try to track down a shop this weekend. Time to get that thing out of the back, and under the truck.
