Hi all,
Am considering removing my stock muffler from my x and installing a Walker BTM or Aero Turbine. Anybody out there running these and can give a thumbs up or down. I don't have the funds to replace the entire stock system so I'm looking for a cheap and effective solution. Thanks in advance for the replies.

Hey there Greater Downtown Cordova !!!

Had a trip planned for this weekend up there, but the honey-do's piled up on me !!! So it's been postponed...
******************************************************
Although I've not done that, have heard RAVE reviews about both those items...
and ANY flow thru muff is BUNCHES betta than the stock boat anchor !!!

if you do just that you will have removed one of the biggest bottle necks in your exhaust...

get er dun !!!

Hi JohnBoy,
I know what you mean about the "honey-do" list.Mine never seems to get any shorter, though. With the wife planning/hosting her Mom's 60th birthday, she has wanted something done every weekend. As for the exhaust, I have heard several positive remarks about the Walker BTM and at 50-60 dollars that is hard to pass up. The aeroturbine looks interesting, but have not read any comments about real world results. If you head east toward Mempho, look me up. we'll take in a ballgame at the best triple A ballpark in the country and grab some barbecue nachos and a cold one

Will touch base with ya, we're supposed to come up in the next few weeks for sure...
be great to visit with ya !
anything more than two or three days with the in-laws REQUIRES a break

Consider having someone set up a few video cameras to video and then edit a movie of the whole thing...
We did for my mother's 80th.... and she didn't know all her kids were coming in for it...
she watches that video a lot I am told !!!

The Walker BTM was one of the first add-ons to our Excursion and I'll give it an easy 2 Thumbs up!!

The Walker gives the near same performance results compared to a full 4" system.

Thanks for the reply back, Bill. At 60 dollars, the BTM is hard to pass on. Sent Garrett at Black Cloud Diesel an e-mail for advice and input on the muffler question. I don't know how much extra it would cost, but I was thinking about bumping the system up to 4 inches from the down pipe back if it can be done for a couple hundred dollars. I've still got to search for a shop in my area to do the work. On that note, Bill, did you keep your stock exhaust and just add the BTM of did you do any other modifications to it? I don't know if the 4" system is necessary in my case since my X is strictly a people hauler at present. I'm just trying to make the engine run more effeciently and gain a few mpg if possible. Sorry for the long post. Thanks for reading

Eddie,
If you're not doing any regular big towing with the Excursion I honestly don't see a need for a full 4" system.

For the daily people hauler like ours I had the stock muffler removed and the BTM welded in it's place

I understand where you're coming from in regards to engine efficiency and MPG gains,I'm always looking for additional ways to improve overall performance
