I don't have the Walker BTM installed on my Excursion, however a friend of mine had one installed on his F350 7.3L PSD. Compared to my large, 5" exhaust and even larger muffler, I liked the sound of the Walker BTM better simply because it muffled the turbo flutter sound. One thing that is different about our diesel trucks vs. a gasser is that when you open up the exhaust, you hear the turbo fluttering.
Here's an example...these are clips of the exhaust on my Excursion.
Startup & idling (you can really hear the whistle of the turbo, which is cool sounding):
Once you start driving or rev it, you hear the flutter...which takes some getting used to:
Here's what it sounds like under load with a little burnout action:
What I liked about the Walker BTM was that it gave my friend's F350 a deeper sound, but still did a good job of keeping the turbo flutter muffled.
Hope that helps.

Yeah the performance of the Walker BTM is very comparible to a 4" system but a few hundred bucks less.
I believe talk to Garrett at Black Cloud,he's a great guy to deal with

The benefits should be the same for the 6.0L,I know if I had a new Powerstroke it'd get a BTM for sure

ok on Blackclouds site it says to turn the s pipe over 180....Bill in your pics it looks like you pipe goes straight back into the btm ???? were there differant exhausts between 2000 and 2002? I can weld and my btm will be here at 10 tomorrow so I was planning on doing it,but if I am gonna need to bend/stretch pipe its going to the muffler shop.... |

The turn 180 line applies to the SuperDuty Pickups only. The BTM installs directly inline,I recommend welding it for a 100% inlet/outlet seal then spray the welds with some high temp exhaust paint to protect from rust.

Consider having someone set up a few video cameras to video and then edit a movie of the whole thing...
We did for my mother's 80th.... and she didn't know all her kids were coming in for it...
she watches that video a lot I am told !!!

Hey Johnboy,
Check your mail. I sent you an e-mail about your trip to Cordova this weekend. By the way, the party was great. We had someone video the whole thing and are currently waiting for copies to be made. Thanks for the GREAT idea. My mother in law was thrilled. That naturally scored BIG points for me with the wife. Take care and have a safe trip.
