DETROIT - Ford Motor Co. is recalling nearly 260,000 vehicles, most of them large pickup trucks, to fix safety defects that include sudden stalling of diesel engines, U.S. federal safety regulators said Monday.
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration said the stalling problem affects F-Series Super Duty pickups from the 2004-2005 model years as well as the 2004-2005 Ford Excursion full-size sport utility vehicle and E350 and E450 vans.
About 180,100 of these vehicles are equipped with 6.0 liter diesel engines and the recall stems from a potentially faulty fuel injection control module, NHTSA said.

Hey Bill! Hope your back is better!!
I had my wiring harness replace about a month ago but it did not solve the issue! What I got out of todays press release is that they have an issue witht he enitre Fuel Injector Control Module! I have a meeting with a Ford Diesel Engineer on Weds. and will be brining along a copy of the PR for clarification. Will let you all know how that goes!

My 03 7.3L died on my way home today just before I heard about the recall on the radio. Any chance they missed a model year? It stalled twice in a 2 mile stretch then ran fine after I took on fuel. It only took 41G so I wasnt out... |

If it's a 7.3L Powerstroke I'll lean to the CPS based on it's bad reputation

Just checked with the tuner....
It threw a P0340 - Camshaft Position sensor error bank 1/1
Also threw P0732 Gear 2 ratio error.
I assume the CPS wouldnt throw the error unless it was bad. Does the code alone warrent replacing?
The second code confuses me.
Anyway, I guess I should take this to the tech board. Let me know if you have suggestions on the Transmission error (Ive noted transmission issues before, where it seems to hold a gear to long while simultaneously losing power)

Rick, here's a link from SuperDutyDiesel which gives a full explanation and action to take for the CPS.
Being able to pickup the P0340 code you have to be almost lucky as it can take a Ford Dealer about 3-4 visits before the 340 will show then they'll replace the CPS under the 100,000 mile warranty on the Powerstroke engine FOC.
The second code is definitely a transmission related DTC which the code just might need to be cleared.
