To install the sender on a 4R100 transmission (2000-2003) you'll utilize the test port plug on the lower drivers side of the tranny, here's a LINK from Daryl's site,he took some really good pics and explained it well

From the pix it sounds like the same as it is on the 04+ trannys. If it is, it is a piece of proverbial cake to install. I barely lost any fluid, just have the sensor ready to put in after you remove the plug. Instructions suggested using a liquid sealent instead of thread tape. The tranny guage is probably the easiest of the three guages to install. To me the nerve racking one was the pyro and having to drill into the up-pipe in a tight space

What is considered the "normal" operating range for the 4R100 tranny?

As for the temp of a 4r100, I like to see them under 200. You can take them as high as 220, but anything over that and you have problems.
I can get mine up to 180 running around town unloaded in 90 degree weather with lots of stop and go traffic. Once on the freeway, and the TC locked, it drops to like 150-160 pretty quick.
If your sitting right on the edge of 200 degrees, I would look into getting another cooler in-line with your factory coolers.

OK Daryl, now that you've joined, you gotta great a few registry entries of your vehicles/ATVs. Yes, the pics are on your site, but you can link to your site from the registry entries.
I'll be checking out your tranny flush instructions, too.
Welcome aboard!
