I guess some of you have heard that the 6.0L is not going to make it past the '07 model year. Rumor is it's being replaced with a 6.4L "Twin" diesel. Anyone have any other info? I gotta say that I test drove a coupla of 6.0L-equiped trucks recently and wasn't even close to impressed. I couldn't imagine having one to pull an Excursion - although I can see many of you that have the 6.0L like it OK after all of the re-flashes.

The rumored '07 will be a 6.0L block but the displacement will be 6.4L

It should be the first year for common rail and so long to heui injectors!(about time!)

I bet the trucks as a whole will become more dependable overall

Kevin....
come for a ride in mine... just down the road from ya...
promise you it will impress you....

and it pulls MY X along jus fine

it impresses me more and more each day....
even after 50K+ miles of "aggresive' driving trying to get by the traffic on i-20 !!!

Who knows if the short life is not because of the enviro-idiots at the EPA mandating it out of existence, just like they did the 7.3L.....

When I test-drove the 2 trucks, I accelerated from a stop at a light to take a hill on an overpass. I didn't think the 6.0L's turbo was EVER going to spin up - even having it floored. Then I turned to take the on-ramp onto I-20. It was the same experience. I would have figured it was just that truck had it been one... but two? They were both of different years, too. I'm not going to dispute ya, JB... I'm sure it would do fine. I just know I'm not talking out of my but (practical experience here).

Kevin,

I think the Texus heat got to your head...I'll bet you drove a V10 both times!

With as quiet as the 6.0L's are, all I really hear is the turbo spinning up. But it's not as loud as my 7.3L through the 5" exhaust.

Speaking of quiet 6.0's Eric,I was at Mega-lo-Mart last weekend with the wife and kids and up pulls this newish King Ranch 6.0L

It was the best 6.0L Diesel I've ever heard as it sure in the heck resembled a quiet 7.3L like ours

My 7.3L fanatic wife even commented on how good it sounded

I will give ya that my 6.0 is NOT a morning person....
it has to be warmed up to respond...
but it will chirp the tires even with 8K lbs on them...
(and power brake and spin them all day long in 4x2 if ya work for Firestone !)
(now mine HAS been tweaked a bit betta than stock mind you !)
but a simple turbo back exhaust and programmer will wake up the beast immensely..

even stock though you can get a jack rabbit start with a little power braking....

Heck, Kevin - I can feel confident pulling out on Cooper near The Parks Mall @ Christmas time - so you KNOW it will go when needed

That's the place to stay away from during that time, for sure!

Interesting bit of trivia for you.. That Intersection of I-20 and Cooper is documented (somewhere) as the busiest intersection in the entire United States. Whilst I find it incredible, I'm not the least bit surprised.

I had heard that somewhere as well....

my wife had been living on Mckamy Oaks just south of 20 for a WHILE before we met...
(IN fact they built in the NEW neighborhood there - that's how long ago it was...)

and can remember driving on 20 and being worried about if she broke down would anyone ever see her

****************************
and really - let's get togetha and I'll show ya that the 6-oh is ok....

In fact, got second Powerstroke in the dyno days www.northtexaspowerstroke.com had in Lewisville last year... or was that two years ago ?

JB, Did I see you rolling down Collins right around Park Row at about 5:25pm yesterday? I was in my wife's Mazda Tribute.
