My e-brake on my 2002 PSD excursion is very hard to engage. It will not hold the car stationary in Neutral on a hill unless I push extremely hard on the brake. It is almost to the point where I feel if I push any harder I will break the pedal off. I was under the car today and everything looks fine. Is there anything I can do to lube the moving parts or is this normal? |

I haven't had to adjust my parking brake at all, but normally there's a nut that can be adjusted one way or another to loosen or tighten the cable (typically around where the e-brake attaches to the rear brakes). It sounds like yours is pretty tight.
To engage my e-brake, I have to press fairly hard (in order for it to hold it on a hill). When it's successfully engaged, the pedal is probably an inch from the floorboard.

To adjust the parking brake you'll have to raise the Excursion rear axle and remove the rear wheel/tire,on the inner side of the backing plate on the bottom will be a small oval-ish cover, pop that off.
Turn the brake adjuster screw to expand the parking brake shoe and linings until they drag against the drum in hat rotor.
Back off the brake adjuster screw until no drag is evident.
