Ok, I finally got the Excursion all back together and ready to hit the road.
Since I bought this used and it currently has 98,200 miles on it, I'm wondering if I should take it to the dealer for a "check-up" before I hit 100k miles. The only reason I'm considering this is because I don't know the vehicle history and don't want an expensive repair bill later, but I do have a couple of questions:
1. I have really driven it, so I don't know of any problems (per se) to justify warranty work. Will the dealer do a checkup without having a known issue or problem stated?
2. How close to that 100k can you get and still get it in? Maybe it makes sense for me to drive it for a few hundred miles and see how it behaves before dropping $100 and time at the dealership?
Give me your thoughts on what you would do. I'm a little torn on this right now. Thanks. |

Are you refereing to an extra cost extended warranty or the standard 100k engine warranty ?
As long as you REPORT and document (well) with their signature that it is reported before the 100K (even if 99,999.9) you should be golden
Now, given that legalize
you have to know of a problem before you can report it...
up to you to decide to spend the money to get a checkup of the major systems...
and even if you bring it in and they say all is fine - if it breaks at 100,000.1 miles they will disavow ANY responsibility or knowledge - guaranteed !

I'm just talking about the factory 100k mile warranty on the engine itself.
Guess I'm just looking for piece of mind on the motor since I dont' know the history. But, I'm wondering if the dealership will do anything if I don't have a reported issue (although I could make up an intermittent issue
Anyway, just trying to see what others have done when they were near their 100k mile engine warranty. Just wondering if anyone used it as a checkup before it expired. |

All they'll do is check fluids, etc. They can pull an OASIS report on the vehicle to show you all repair history at any Ford dealership -- that'll give you a good history of the vehicle (at least when it was serviced at a dealership).
You have nothing to worry about. I have 148K on my PSD and it's still running perfectly.
On a side note, here's a list of the top 5 things to consider now that you're an Excursion owner: http://www.fordexcursions.com/articles/article_2/index.php
