Hey... need everyones advice... I was just about to buy an '05 PSD Excursion as a replacement for my POS Hummer H2.

The question I have is that I travel with show dogs in the back, and in the summer I will let the car idle for several hours with the air on.

It seems that when the rear air is on, the Diesel vents into the cabin.

What do you guys think? I dont want to come back to dead dogs.

In addition, what would you say to someone who is thinking of switching from an H2 to an Excursion.... I could use the room thats for sure.

Please advise.

What ?!?!?!
Diesel vents to the cabin ??!!?!

Where in the world did you hear that ?!?!? The H2 forums ?

Did they mention that all vehicles exhaust WILL get inside if you roll all the windows down and park it away from the breeze just right? Maybe they can't figer that out on an h2 forum

All I know is that heyer in Texus we idle our X a LOT since I don't like my black X to be 120 degrees when I get in it... and the remote start sure does help cool it off....

besides, when my wife is in there while I am browsing Home Depot, she likes it cool too

Yeah, never had any problems with exhaust in the cabin here either. I've let 'er idle for quite a while and don't notice fumes. Don't know/care much about the H2's

If you're gonna buy a diesel to idle for hours make sure you get an Aux. Idle Controller or...buy a V10.

It is not good to idle a diesel at the computer set, base idle speed for hours. Wet-stacking occurs.

The rear air is a recirculating air system. I do not belive that it draws fresh in air like the front AC. Keep the vent windows closed (if equipped) if you're gonna idle it.

I've let my X idle for a couple hours with the A/C on while our German Shepherd was in the vehicle. He was just fine. We just moved him all the way to the rear of the X, but they do love hanging out in the middle row when the seats are folded down. Then the A/C blows directly on him.

Rear Air is strictly recicrulating. NO venting from the outside.

If you close the power rear quarter windows, you won't get any diesel exhaust smell in the vehicle at all. You will get very good milage with the diesel and plenty of room with the Excursion.
