Mark,

Very rarely, I will add a quart of oil to the PSD in a 5,000 mile period. Normally, the level doesn't move. When you change oil, do you fill the oil filter with oil before installing it? It takes a good 3-4 quarts to fill. I have 149,000 on my PSD.

During the winter I've noticed both Powerstrokes use more oil. It's not uncommon for me to add a quart of oil every thousand miles and 6 months later to add one quart every five thousand miles.

When the F250 was young it had the bolts in the turbo strip out and leaked oil all over the valve covers at a rate of a quart every 500 miles or less.

BTW, the truck has 196K and the suv has 145K miles and both get worked from time to time.

My 99 F550 was towing everyday and it took maybe a quart every 1,000 miles or so.

The Excursion with 32k on the clock at the most goes thru a half quart every 8k-10k miles.
