I have the bullydog 4 position and and the btm muffler, thats it for now,so what should I see for egt temps? When cruising the highway around 70 at a moderate pedal I see around 750-800,seems ok,but yestarday I as pullin, a landscape trailer for a buddy(tandem axle,1 ride mower and 1 walk behind, misc blowers and trimmers, not too heavy)and my egt seemed to want to climb real fast had to keep "backing out of it"to keep the temp below 1100........so what are your temps running and does this seem normal?????

When towing, there are a LOT of variables besides weight.....
hills, headwinds, frontal area of trailer, etc...
but most of all speed - or rather, acceleration rates...

I would either go back to stock settings on your tuner or AT LEAST put it in the "tow" or lowest setting....

While better than stock, just a muffler change will not get you the full benefit of quick exhaust purging...
smart thing you did to keep backing out to keep it cool....

sounds like you did not let it get in the danger zone !

until you get a free-er flowing exhaust keep watching those gauges

On the freeway at 70 MPH on the 60hp program we stay in the 600-700 degree range,on surface streets the temps stay about the same.

I see you're running with 37's which would contribute to the higher temps so I say you're within the range for your setup depending on the Bullydog power setting.

Have you upgraded the intake system and other upgrades like the HPX,FPR or zoodad as they'll benefit better performance,MPG's and lower EGT's.

until Bill can respond - bet he means the high pressure crossover line...
on the 7.3L's if you tie the rails together with a crossover line, it allows for "smoother" operation...
had one of my first Ex with a 7.3 and I can attest to it....
but I had to pull it off when I was getting a replacement truck....
didn't want them saying the HPX caused my tranny problems, ya know

if you're close, I have one I'll never use....

John is correct,it's the High Pressure Crossover. What the HPX or HX kit(depending on the forum) does is it brings the oil pressure up at Injector #8 to the same level as the other seven injectors which in turn allows all 8 injectors to get the same oil pressure for a smoother idle, better acceleration and a quieter engine in many cases

Here's a LINK to Bob's site for full information,I purchased my HPX from Dale Isely at Tymar Performance which if I recall correctly is the one that designed the High Pressure Crossover to start with

Here's my ZooDad

I've always heard staying under 1,350 degrees is safe and 225 degrees for the tranny temp.

Ford Specifications is 221F max long-term ATF temp (measured in the sump) and 248F: max short-term ATF temp.

The engineers at International state that 1,250F EGT is the Red Line for the 7.3L engines.
