had a question in comparing and '05 with an '04 Excursion. With the power stroke 6.0, are the two years running the same motor or have they increased the hp and torque output for '05. I'm looking to pick up a used one and wanted to know of any difference to look out for in the two years. I will be towing a 10,000lb, 33' boat maybe 3-4 times a year.

Also, should I even consider the v10 or will the gas and power be an issue from your experiences?

thanks for the input

If towing that much, I'd opt for the 6.0L PSD. The power and fuel economy is superior when towing with a diesel.

No significant power difference between '04 and '05 to my knowledge (someone correct me if I'm wrong). The biggest changes are cosmetic with the new front grill and interior/dash on the '05s.

Joe,
can't speak to the 04 vs 05...
but "CURTAINLY" can if we're comparing 03's to 05's since i just traded for a new one...

the diff in ride between the two is night and day...
I thought the 03 rode well with all the tweaks I did to it...
but the 05 is 100% better with NO tweaks thus far....

there's a school of thought that the 2003.25's generate more power than the later models
& while my 03 did do 375rwhp & 706lbft "tuned",
the 05 seems to have some better drivability thus far.
Even stock it seems to do well....

gotta run... but did see a What's new for 04 and 05 somewhere - let me see if I can find it and post it later...

Hi Joe Welcome to the Excursion forums!

The power ratings for the 2004-05 models remained the same at 325/560.

Engine performance and longevity I'll give the advantage to the Diesel
