I took my new Ex over the my Car Alarm guy........its a Jersey thing...if its nice and you want to keep it you need an alarm
It looks like Im going to go with the Clifford Matrix RSX3.5 with an Autostart. It has all the features that I would like and them some. The remote is pretty cool. It is a 2 way system which means the remote (fob) communicates to the car (push botton to arm and disarm) as usual, but then the car communicates back to the remote.

I have a few questions for the Electronic guru's about the radar detector Im thinking about. I want to go with the K40 2000. The reason is that it is fully custom with the speaker hidden in the dash and
the LED's mounted into the instrument panel. The detectors part is both front and back with a seperate unit in the front and back bumpers.
My concern is the my truck has the back-up sensors which Im assumeing is a radar system of some sort. How will this effect the radar detector? Is it a different frequency or is the radar detector going to be alarming the whole time the truck is in reverse?
Or maybe Im just missunderstanding what or how the back-up sensor works.

No shame in getting an alarm! My alarm saved the stereo in one of my older cars. Believe it or not, having parked in not-so-nice-parts-of-town in Minneapolis and never having my vehicle broke into, the first time it was broken in to was in Fargo, North Dakota of all places. I couldn't believe it. But the alarm deterred the thieves and nothing was stolen.
The 2-way communication is nice.
As for the radar detector -- no idea if it'll pick up the reverse sensors. I haven't owned a radar detector in quite some time but always remember it went off when I was at the grocery store due to the motion-sensor doors.
At the very least, you can at least turn the rear sensors off when reversing (if you don't need them at the time) in case the radar detector picks them up.

I use a Valentine One. It has never been set off from the back up sensors, so I do not think that should be a problem with the K40. |

Thanks for the input.
I have the Valantine as well and it is the best radar detector Ive ever used.
The reason I want Im going with the K40 is that it is a remote unit so you dont have the wires hanging or the unit suctioned to the windshield. I hope the K40 is almost as good at detecting radar.

I must agree with the concept of remote installation. Wish it were available with the Valentine. Let us know how the K40 works once you get it in. Would be interested in knowing how it compares. |

I was thinking of hard wiring the valentine into the monochromatic mirror so it sits just below it... |
