Thanks guys. After reading what y'all have done to your EX's go me going. First were the back window struts. They're great. Then I ordered the hidden hitch. [it arrived today] and while I was at it, I ordered the Magnaflow turbo back stainless exhaust system It came Wednesday. I only ordered it on Monday. Super fast service. Now, all I have to do is get down and dirty and install all these good things. I'll keep y'all posted.

I have several products that I've purchased but haven't installed yet. My gauges have been collecting dust for a couple years, now.

We expect to see pics of all upgrades to your Excursion, Mike!

I have a question for those who have the monster exhaust. I was told by one ot the members who hasn't been around in a long time to not install the larger down pipe unless I install a power chip. [or reprogram the existing one.] I asked the people at Magnaflow yesterday about this and they said to go ahead and install the pipe because there should be no negative effects. The question I have is will I loose low end power with it?

On a different note I started the morning by installing a new wireless router for my computer. It works!!!
Now, I have to go down and install the Hidden Hitch. Tomorrow, WE will install the exhaust. I won't attempt that by myself.

cheers,

Mike

The 3.5" downpipe will drop EGT's some and help exhauist flow but the big 4" downpipe will cause some low end power power loss, the 4" performs best in the high RPM area combined with exhaust, intake system and bumped programming via chip or tuner.

Okay, are you suggesting that I don't install the 4" downpipe? I do have a K&N air filter to decease the intake restriction. Will the low end drop be very obvious? It's not the greatest now. Power seems to come on later. Turbo lag? Not that it is a slouch, but I don't want to lose anything.

The items combined that changed our Excursion's attitude was the Programmer,Exhaust,K&N filter,Cold Air intake,AIH delete and Wicked Wheel.

I'm still running with the stock downpipe and don't see a need currently to upgrade as my EGT's are low,MPG is doing real good and overall performance is Excellent.

To really open up the air intake is to upgrade to the AFE Stage2 filter system which in my opinion is numbero uno.

Bill,

Have you done any work on your trans [such as a shift kit] and/or torque converter? My big fear of using a programer is that the OEM torque converter is only good to about 750 lb. ft. Stock settings are supposed to be at 550 lb. ft.

Michael,

I run a 3.5" downpipe and 5" exhaust without a chip. No power loss at all. Seat of the pants feel seems like it helps it out, actually. I originally had a very hot chip installed but am now running in stock mode.

The system I just purchased [and is still in the box] has 4" pipe all the way through with a 5" tip.
