Went around and tightened everything up and have cleared up most of my rattles. The one exception is the passenger door. It rattles with every little bump or shake in the road. I have torn the door apart and it appears to come from inside the door cavity and I'm thinking it's the metal rod in there for the door handle.
Anyone else have this problem? What's the easiest way to quiet it down? I am thinking of some kind of foam wedge to hold the rod still, but maybe I've got the wrong culprit. I was also thinking of some sound deadening material, but I don't think that will cure this (it may quiet it though).
Let me know what you know. |

Any possibility to have someone drive while you track down the illusive rattle with the door panel off and a flashlight, that's worked for us trying to find a rattle in our Excursion.

I suggest you check to see if your rubber bumper is contacting the door frame on that door. I had a wierd metal to metal rattle which sounded like it was in the latch. Actually it was the latch being torqued because the rubber bumper did not contact the door frame. I took some self stick felt furniture pads (home depot) and added two to get a good contact. Alas, the noise disappeared! |
