Hi Scott,
I had my driver and passenger side windows tinted by a local tint shop for around $70. With a warranty that covers peeling scratching and bubbling up, I think I got a good deal. In and out of the shop in about an hour. To me, it was a lot easier to have someone install it in a shop rather than me trying to in my drive way. I will be doing a strip across the windshield after it gets replaced. Good luck with whichever route you chose to go. BTW, it helps cut down on the heat in the interior to.

Unless you are good at it, I say get it done by someone who does it for a living. The films available are usually of higher quality that those found at Wal-Mart or auto parts stores. $35 per window seems to be a prevailing rate. It is always my first "mod".

the 5" strip of limo tint across the top of the windsheild REALLY helps with the glare...

Cool-I will probably have a shop do it this fall, but I am going to run a strip of 20% across the top of the windshield here soon, but I am considering doing it myself for the back windows. I agree, it should definately cut the heat down.

Thanks guys!!

Here's the North Carolina State Guidelines regarding window tinting.

On the line regarding Windshield and it says "AS-1" that states the window film line can only drop down to that marker which is found on the upper right or left hand corner of the windshield.

I did mine. I'm not a tint guy but my buddy is and I watched him do it on another car. Take your time and keep it clean and it can be done with great results. I did mylar tint on mine and it was a PITA on the back glass but was worth it over the dyed plastic.

I had mine done at a shop. $300 for all windows (except windshield). I went with 21% all around (on top of factory tint). Don't know the terminology, but I went with the stuff that's for insulation as well. Makes a significant difference in heat reduction when the sun is beating down on you during a road trip. Lifetime warranty for mine, too. Still looks great after nearly 5 years.

I did my own tinting on my Bronco (on top of another set of tint). If the existing tint is dark enough, you don't have to be as precise. The back window looks like a PITA, though! It does take patience.
