Folks,
Welcome to the new forums for FordExcursions.com!
The layout and several of the functions are the same as the old site. The main benefit to the forums being on SuperFord.org now is that people won't have to register in two places anymore for message forums and registry entries. Everything's tied into one place which means an easier, quicker sign-up process.
The old forums will remain online at:
http://www.FordExcursions.com/phpBB
Nobody will be able on the old forums anymore. Searching will still be permitted as there's a lot of useful information on the old forums.
If you run into any problems or have questions about these new forums, please respond in this area!

I disagree with the PayPal automatic renewal that we are forced to do !
If anyone has had to fight with Alarm companies over their automatic renewals than you really won't want to do this again !!!
If this is an optional sign up and registration, then shouldn't it be an optional renewal?
Just my $.02 !!!!!!

No one likes to pay for something they once had for free... But the photo hosting alone is worth the price of the yearly fee. Most hosting sites either already charge or will be. There are also some ford site galleries that severely restrict the number of photos, the content, hot linking and the actual size of each photo. The registry here is the best I have seen. I would have liked to have had the choice of automatic renewal though.
For the most part I like the changes and will continue to support the site as best as I can.

Eric,
My apologies for reacting so strongly about the auto renewal! It is a small thing, but I JUST had an issue with an alarm company charging me 11 months of fees because I sent them a letter of cancellation 25 days before renewal instead of 30 !!!
but we've signed up and are starting to see the benefits in the new site...
You know us old dogs - we don't cotton to that change thingy too well !!!
OBTW,
I really am qulifying for full doofus for asking this,
but how do you start a new thread???
I would like to ask if we could get a action button to let us see just the threads since we got on last time... other sites I frequent have it and it is a neat feature...
Tanks!

John,
No problem about the auto-renewal thing. I also agree that I hate seeing those mysterious charges show up on my credit card bills for something I know I cancelled or know I never wanted to be automatically renewed.
To start a new thread, you just have to go to the main "topic" page. For example, if you go to http://fordexcursions.superford.org/forums/threads.php?topicid=39, you'll see the list of threads and at the very top, you'll see a "Create Thread" link. Graphics will be added at some point to replace the text links. The text links get a little lost with all of the information display on the page.
With regards to the "View new posts since last visit" -- that is definitely something being added. I love this feature and you can be certain that it will be added.
On a side note, e-mail notifications of new replies is being added as well, that's also a feature I found to be very convenient.

Way to be proactive with the features that we used on the old board!
The email notification was a great time saver for me as well!
Good work!

Eric, if you are the man setting this all up, good job, but... Too many clicks are now required to find the EX posts. FordExcursions.com requires another link. Can't find the forums from Superford.org. (which is where Email ends up) |
