I did do it, but only after I changed the power steering pump. If you want to do a flush, your lookin at about 3.5 quarts, take the return line off the pump, and let it drain. Are you having pump noise, or just want to do the flush?

I dont remember which one is the pressure line, I think if your looking up at the pump from underneath its the rear line, then you just drain it that way. Like I said, it will take about 3.5 quarts, if not more....so I think I bought 5 quarts just to be on the safe side. I also put some Marvel in it to keep things lubed up good!! Knock on wood-no issues since. Good luck buddy!

Scott,

In this post you asked about any noise. When you drop our Ex out of neutral there is a growling noise that started a long time ago, and which I can't isolate to the power steering pump, power brake pump, or anything else... If I had to guess it would be the power brake since it occurs when I put it into gear, but it only occurs at idle RPM.

Have you, or anybody else, got any theories, diagnostic and treatment suggestions, etc.?

Thanks,

Phil

I would recommend having a shop do the BG power steering flush with there special flush machine and cleaners to do it right. Log onto www.BGfindashop.com to find a shop in your area.
Ford pwer steering pumps are noisy when the fluid is old and dirty.
