You know after I entered the last post I went outside to complete another intake mod. , removeing the intake air heater and thought I would wash my K&N. I got to looking at the box and found there was a 2"x 6" piece that could be removed to let more air into the filter housing. The air intake heater removal might not be for everyone. It comes on at zero degrees in park only. We only worry about thigs affected by rain.

That 2x6 piece of plastic is supposed to be a splash guard of sorts,we cut that out flush to the top of the intake tube and have done the same with other 7.3L's in the past few years

After I worked the air box over I started dow the line to see if there was anymore restrictive things I could remove. What is that plastic connector with the air scoop and the tube in the valve cover? That loked like pressureizd air going into the crank case.

That'll be the crankcase valve vent tube going to the fresh air intake flow to the engine.

I did away with the CCV vent to eliminate oily charge boots and also prevent the oil vapors from coating the interior of the intercooler which reduces the cooling effect it was desgned for.

Wonder if my intake box has that in it?

The V10 filter box will differ from the 7.3L Powerstroke model but may be worth checking out for any similar obstructions
