Hey Ya'll,

This past few days, with Hurricane Katrina dumping 20 inches of rain on us, I've done a fair bit of wading. Alot of the time, the water was past the center of my stock rims (to about the exhaust level). Since then, while cruisin in OD at around 50-70mph, the truck shudders *alot*. It doesnt do it in any other gear. I havent noticed any other problems. It feels like being a gear too high on a manual stick vehicle.

Any ideas? Its a 2000 4x4 V10 Limited.

I had the same problem recently, it turned out to be a bad COP (Coil Over Plug).

Also, have you changed your spark plugs recently? If you did make sure that you used factory Motorcraft plugs from teh dealer, I used Bosch Platinum 4+ and learned a very hard lesson from it.

My problem with teh COP was strange because I was unable to pull any codes on my scanner at home, and teh check engine light never came on. But after a trip to a Tire Kingdom they were able to pull codes and noticed that I had 4 cylinders misfiring (there is no code for a bad COP, just the misfire as a result of the bad COP).

Hope the above info helps. I am in Naples, and we got lucky that Katrina dipped south, sorry to hear that you guys got dumped on over there.

I've also noticed a huge decrease in mpg... down from 13-15mpg to a straight 8-9mpg!

Can't get it to a garage any time soon.. so many flood damaged cars here they have a looong wait!
