Saving $3,600 a year in fuel is huge savings!

In 04 my work truck the F250 traveled 55,000 miles at a cost of $9,000 in diesel fuel. Since then fuel has gone up $1.00 a gallon but I moved twice as close to my work area so the fuel savings this year should be significant. In 04 the Excursion racked up about 25,000 miles.

For the Ex owners reporting 16-17mpg's, you must not either have 4x4 or the 4.30 differential correct? That's what I have and I have never seen more than 14 mpg's.

16-17 MPG averages are going to be from Diesel-powered Excursions.

-Eric

I get almost 20 mpg at a steady 70 mph cruising on the highway (4x4, diesel of course). Has anyone considered running biodiesel? My father-in-law has a diesel truck also, & he is seriously considering making the stuff himself. It seems that the total cost of the fuel would be about 80 cents/gallon.

Regards,
Tom

What exactly is bio diesel? I drive a gasser so Im not sure what that is? If its the vegatable oil or fryer oil, thats pretty cool, but how do you keep it from congealing?
