I just bought a (new to me) 2005 Limited 4x4 PSD.... It didn't have the tow package on it, so I'll have to add the tow mirrors and a hellwig swaybar for the back...

Can't wait to try pulling the trailer with it!!!

Have a few rattles that need to be understood, but all seems minor for something that has 13K miles on it.

Fluid changes and other mods to follow to make her Road Ready for trailer pullin'!!!

Woo Hoo!!

I can't beleive it... the dealer only gave me one key FOB and one Key... "claims" the others are gone...

How did the previous owners loose that?

OK, so I found out I need to have 2 keyt to make a 3rd key duplicate, or buy a new key and have service (or some locksmith) reprogram my computer for 2 or more new keys.

Keys run $25-35, reprogram gonna cost $65-79... depending on locksmith or dealer...

Unbelieveable!!!

This cost, on top of the alignment and 15K service I have sheduled this weekend making me think the "deal" I got on this truck is starting to go negative on me...

Just venting...

OK - I just spend the evening installing the Hellwig sway bar (instructions really do suck), and at the same time, installed Rancho 9000s in the back. Ran out of time to do the front today, will tackle that later this week.

I also bought the heated lighted Tow mirrors from powerstrokeshop, with the paintable back (painted to body color like the super dutys), but I have no clue how to take off the door panel and exsisting mirror. I'm afraid to just start pulling on the door panel and pop or break any palstic mounts, so I'de like to see some instructions.

Anyone have instructions on how to take the mirrors off? I thought it would come with instructions, like my Nissan Armada tow mirrors did, but nope.

In front of the windowm the black triangular piece just pops out. In front of that, the three rubber seals give you access to the mirror mounting. The door panel--just pop up the part of the armrest with your window controls, etc. Remove the connectors from the switch modules. There is a screw inside this area to remove. Take a small screw driver and pop off the lower door light cover--there is a second screw in there. Once those two are out, just lift door panel up and then out. It just has plastic hangers molded to the back that hooks into slots. It's pretty easy once you've done it

Thanks David,

I just got my Tow Mirrors installed this Morning. Look Awsome... I got the paintable backs like the pickups, so mine are painted to match the body color. I love it.. Can't wait to hook up the airstream!

Greetings and welcome to you. I am new to the forum tonight, however I have had my 2004 for a year as of last night. My husband bought my X for me while I was out on assignment in Pennsylvania as a replacement for my '99 6.5 GMC Suburban. What a change, but my number 1 requirement is that the truck be a diesel so I now have the Ford X. I have found that I love the size. I have also found that it is a great adjustment, but the new dealership that I have moved to from the purchase dealership has been great. The other immediate mod, is the radius rod addition to end the sea-saw action and the curve chattering. With that mod and the addition of the Nitto tires, I feel the truck is road-ready. I still have a long way to go, but I believe the relationship between the LandYot (as the guy that sold my husband the radius rods calls these beasts) and I will be a good one. Hope you enjoy your truck!

Welcome aboard ladydiesellover! I average just over 30K miles per year and have 156,000 on my 2000 X thus far. Nice to have another Minnesotan here, too.
