Hello everybody..... I apologize for being MIA for so long.
I am about to purchase an extended warranty from FORD for my 2004 EX Diesel 4x4.
They range in price from FULL coverage for $3200 to BASIC coverage for $2700.
Also, they range in mileage allotments.

So, for those faithful EX owners who wouldn't mind helping me out, here's my numbers:
I've owned the EX for 17 months.
I currently have 32,000 miles on it.
That equals to 1900 miles per month

Which means I will have 100,000 miles (warranty expiration) in 36 months from now.
Do any of you have Extended Warranty experience?
Any recommendations about the Ford warranty?
Any ideas about choosing between the $100 deductable versus the $0 deductable ($500 upgrade).
ANY suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!
Thanks guys....I really want to make the best decision here.
-Jarrett

J-Douglas,

Those prices seem high. I pirced out a Diesel Excursion 4x4, in-service 12-36 months, mileage 12,0001-36,000, in Texas, no commercial use to be the following:

Base CARE: $1,894.90
Add $245 for $0-deductible
Add $75 for drop-off first-day rental

Premium CARE: $2,352.80
Add $455 for $0-deductible
Add $125 for drop-off first-day rental

This pricing is from: http://www.fordesp.com

Regarding actual experience with a Ford ESP, I purchased a 5-year 100,000 mile extended warranty. I blew through 100,000 miles in no time. Most of my repairs were to the engine anyway (which carries a 100K transferrable warranty by default), so I didn't really "cash in" on my ESP. When my transmission died at 87K, Ford denied warranty coverage due to the installation of a performance chip.

One more thing regarding the $0-deductible for $100 deductible...it obviously pays for itself if you claim warranty coverage more than 5 times. Since I maybe had one or two times where I calimed warranty coverage, it would not have been worth it for me. Paying more up-front for the $0-deductible may be more beneficial for someone who doesn't put on as many miles in one year.

My $0.02.

I LOVE THIS SITE!

Okay, I checked out that website you gave me, and sure enough.... $900+ cheaper!
I just called my local dealer and they were very EAGER to match that price. That struck me as odd because I thought all Ford warranties were the same price. But, apparently, the dealer can discount the heck out of them!
I am now the proud owner of a 5 year/100,000 Extended Service Plan for my EX.
Drive out price was $2370 + $125 for the $50 deductable.

Thanks... ONCE again.... to this website (and to E.Long)

When you buy these contracts online is any dealer inspection required? My truck has 35912 miles on it and I just bought the ESP 7/100K but don't want to have the warranty not be valid if the miles are higher when they inspect the truck (if they need to).

I spoke to my dealer's busines manager, and he said that he did NOT need to inspect the vehicle. Of course, he seemed really friendly, so maybe he was just "skipping" that step. I asked if I needed to come in for an inspection, and he said no. He just verbally double-checked my odometer reading about 6 times!
Good luck.

When I purchased my ESP locally, I didn't have to get an inspection. I was still within the 36K bumper-to-bumper warranty and as a result, I think Ford will simply look at their records in the OASIS system on your vehicle's VIN.

Jarrett, glad everything worked out for you. Just be sure to remove any aftermarket goodies before you bring your X in for warranty work (i.e. performance chips).
