I guess Ford has forgotten that size does matter when towing... I used to have a F-150 & what dissatisfied with it's ability to pull a load of any sort. I purchased the Excursion because I had to pull 7K and transport 6 people. The Everest looks like it will have the same woes that the Expedition does unless they beef up the suspension. It will be narrow and wobbly with a transmission that wont be up to the task, unless I am reading something different from that Edmunds review.
I guess I will be forced to buy a Sub 2500 or continue to rebuild my X once the mileage gets into the 100 K range. |

One would think there will be some compelling differences between the Everest and the Expedition. Seems odd to have a longer version of virtually the same vehicle/platform and call it a different name.
I guess it would be similar to how Chevrolet does it -- Tahoe & Suburban.
Regarding supercrewjohn's post, certainly if it rides on 1/2-ton suspension, it definitely is not a replacement for the Excursion. If it's offered with a diesel, it may provide some great fuel economy on a potentially lighter, smaller vehicle than the X/F250/F350. For the person who wants an SUV but doesn't haul the heavy loads, then it may be a nice alternative to an Expedition.
Who knows.

Nice spy shots.
I'm surprised it has such a long overhand in the rear. The F-150 will be available in a crew cab version with a 6 1/2 foot bed instead of the 5 1/2 that is the only option available now.
Would be really nice if they offered a heavy duty version with a diesel. I would order one the day they announced it.
Otherwise I may have to buy a Suburban with a Dmax.
Anybody heard if Chevy is finally putting the Dmax in the new Burb? |

No Dmax for the Burb, yet. They were suppose to (per rumor) but it is not listed as an engine option for the 07 redesign.

I was a GM guy until I bought this X. Ive heard there will never be a deisel offered in the burb. The rumors are wishful thinking by people who want them (like me)
I waited for 2 years and was willing to wait another but felt I better land an X before they were gone.

Im gonna keep my Ex until it falls apart...or Im gonna upgrade to a newer year model and a diesel.

Keeping my X until it's no longer drivable, too. Love the versatility. Blizzard storm warnings in North Dakota this weekend and today, the wife and I are traveling, and I have no worries because we are in the X!

This everest makes me thinks of hills in Nebraska and less like the intimidating MT Everest in Tibet.
It just seems to smell of stationwagon inistead of a heavy duty tow vehicle.
Maybe that company that makes the F650 Extreem trucks can make a F350 version of the Excursion now that it is out of production  |
