I don't think you'll get that much salt in NC if it's used there

I know you're going to be keeping your X but after ya'll get settled in after the move you gonna send the truck into the body shop to get the rust damage removed or just going to go with new doors?

I'm not really sure. I have several other areas where the paint is chipped on the vehicle (mainly on the front edge of the hood and on the back sides of the windows). Eventually, it may just be worth it to get the whole thing repainted black. When I hit 200K miles, I'll do a lot of thinking on what all will need to get done to it or if it makes more sense to trade it in at that point. I know for sure suspension will need to be replaced, tires, and I see a transmission in my future too based on the wonderful reputation of the 4R100 (no problems yet, knock on wood!). It depends what those Dodge Magnum SRT8's are going for at that time.
The driver's side door is definitely the worst. It will depend what the body shop says on repair vs. replacement.

No salt in North Carolina? Wanna' bet? When they have to spread the stuff, it's often a mix of salt and sand. Granted, there's not as much used in these here parts as there may be up north, but local DOTs have run out of salt in the winter a few times. BTW, I'm located about 40 miles north of the VA-NC border.
Question: What's all this talk about NC? Are you contemplating a move there, Eric?

Bill, thanks for the link. I had not seen that one. Actually, there are a ton of posts I haven't seen.
Greensboro, huh? Sorry that I'm the bearer of bad news, but they get more snow there than here along the coast. And when it doesn't snow, there can be a fair amount of freezing rain to deal with.
Welcome to the south, Eric! |

According to the locals I've met, it snows half-a-dozen times per year. I've heard about the ice storms. Frankly, I don't think any of it will come close to comparing to a winter in MN, but I'll take your word on the snow and salt. I'm looking forward to seeing how folks drive when the first snow/ice hits the streets. I've heard it can be quite amusing.
But what am I saying, here I sit in North Dakota (visiting the in-laws) and it was a balmy 45 degrees today. Hung out on the deck for a bit and played fetch with the dog. I could get used to this kind of "winter" in NC.
