It looks as if the number is the ones that are new since you were at the site last. I like it, it's like the dieselstop web page. Every time I log on those same numbers but in red show you all the new hits since the last visit

Scott's correct. The number in parenthesis is the number of unread replies to the original post. Some message threads don't display a number which means you have seen all of the replies in that thread.

The next step will be adding the code so that when you click on the thread, it will bring you to the newest reply in the thread. Right now, you still have to search for which posts are new.
