I need new brakes. I most likely will go with ART rotors and pads. Based on everyone here recommendations and price. My question is though, what to do about calipers. Right now my left rear caliper is hanging. I only want to do this once, so should fix the hanging caliper or replace both rears with ford, Advanced Auto, NAPA or these guys "XRC" Extreme Ride Components.
Here are a couple links.

However I decide to do this its going to cost me I know that. Like I said I only want to do this once.

Has any had any experience with XRC or ever heard of them. I found them doing a google search.

Thanks - Dave

Unless the car is new, I replace brake calipers as a pair. Remember, driving the car is optional. Stopping is NOT.

I haven't ever done this on my X, but the times I've replaced calipers on other vehicles, I went to most any chain auto parts store and purchased rebuilt units. After swapping them out, I'd return to the store with the original calipers to claim my core-refund. I've never had any issue with any of them.

Also, dealing with a local store avoids all that shipping back & forth ... and the costs associated with that.

With the weight of the X, I'd probably be more tempted to get the rebuilt units from a Ford dealer.

And one rule of thumb ... ALWAYS replace rotors, calipers, pads, shoes, drums and/or tires in pairs.

I totally agree with LANDYOT. Go with the chain.

I am running rotors and pads (The best pads they had) from Auto Zone and have not had any problems in 14,000 miles and I am hard on the brakes. They came with a 2 year warrenty and if they are still good at 18 months I will be taking them in for a swap.

I'd rather be in the boat with a drink on the rocks then in the drink with the boat on the rocks.... But either way theres gonna be a good story!!!

Is ART the way to go for rotors and pads? I've tried a few different manufacturers and have not been satisfied with anyone's so far. Napa supposedly has a high performance rotor and ceramic pad but it is the same amount of money as ART. The only concern I have is dealing with a company in California vs. a local company that if things go bad I can jump up and down on their parts counter and raise holy heck!!!
Any advice?

The guys at ART were good to respond whenever I have had questions. I'm still running their rotors on front and rear of my X and have been doing so for several years without any issue. I've sinced changed their pads with stuff that was available at Napa (original pads were worn down - I have 176k miles on my X), but other than that, it was a very straight forward swap and I will never go back to OEM rotors! The warping was ridiculous.

Thanks for all your input. I agree that a well functioning brake system is very important to get right and not go to the cheap.
Here is what I have decided to do; Power Slot Cryo rotors in the front and standard Power Slot in the rear with Hawk pads all the way around. For calipers, I decided on all four NAPA's premium calipers. And finally EGR SS brake lines, the three piece kit plus the short lines at the rear calipers. Plus a complete flush and refill of synthetic brake fluid.
You can imagine this is not going to be cheap, I feel it is well worth the value, and much cheaper than doing it piece meal as each component needed attention. I have four beautiful kids that the good Lord has blessed me and my wife with. I will gladly do with out a dought what ever it takes to keep us all safe and sound. Besides I only want to do this once.

All parts are on order and hopefully be here and put on in a couple of weeks. I am planning on trying to do a visual stop test of before and after that I can share with everyone here, without getting too complicated.

Thanks again, Have a great weekend. The sun is finally out for a change here.
