I have ordered V and F code springs for my 03 7.3L PSD. I also have a helwig anti sway bar on the way. I would like to change the shocks at the same time. The most popular choices seem to be the Bilsteins and the Ranchos. The Bilsteins seem to be excellent quality and the Ranchos are adjustable. I would prefer a less stiff ride most of the time, but will be towing my 6000lb, TT about 10,000mi. per year and could adjust the Ranchos accordingly. I have the part numbers recommeded for the Bilsteins. Does anyone have part numbers recommended for the Ranchos?
Any recommendations or installation tips would be appreciated.

The Rancho's are known to have a problem with the adjuster dial rusting out up here in the north, but seeing as you are in Florida without all the salt problems, they will probably be what you want.
Based on what I have heard on the forums, I don't think I would want to go over some of the offroads with my bilsteins that some guys have gone over with their Rancho's when they turn down the stiffness.
I have the Bilsteins, and they are stiffer than I like, but I do not want to have to replace them regularly like I probably would with the Rancho's.
I've been thinking of getting a set of Ranchos for the spring/summer/fall months, but well.... |

We may not get much salt down here but the elements from the roads are similar, every couple months I'll hit the knobs with lubricating oil to keep em free moving
Our original set of Rancho 9000X shocks have been on our Excursion for over 4 years now with 60k miles
Order the Ranchos Here at Sams they'll have the correct ones.

Thanks for the input guys. I am leaning towards the Ranchos for the reasons Housedad stated. And to add to what CHP says, here in Florida we have the salt air from the Gulf which tends to rust stuff but maybe not quite as bad as winter road salt.

I'll be swapping out my shocks next weekend as well as installing add-a-leafs in the rear. I have had Ranchos RS9000's on the front for probably close to 100,000 miles. The rears have been on for about 50,000.
I didn't have the problem with the knobs rusting out in the MN winters with all of the salt we had up there.
I was looking at the Edelbrocks but I will probably end up with RS9000x's again. I'm also going to pick up a new front stabilizer shock from Rancho as well.

Nope, I have some ProComp stabilizer shock that's been installed since about 5000 miles. I'm a little overdue for a change.

Ya know Eric if you purchased the stabilizer from 4 wheel parts just pop off the old one take it in and they should replace it N/C only if you have 4WP dealer near you
