my friend Steve Cole at TTS powersystems told me to drill a few 1 inch holes in front of air cleaner pickup tube.said it was worth some power on his dyno.i looked at mine and saw that the air tube almost butts up against flat metal.i see air being restricted severly here.i will do this in a couple of days.has anyone tried this on their ps,and if so,what do you think? i will let you guys know about mine

You talking about up by the grill area...sort of trying to achieve a DIY ram air setup? Have seen plenty of folks talk about it on other sites although I have not done it myself. Just don't put so many holes in it so that you run the risk of your air filter getting wet in heavy rain.

Regarding water injestion...I run a screnn behind my grill, it helps break up the water.
I get no water on my filer or in the tube. I have seen a small bit of melted snow though but I do not have to worry about that anymore.

There is another place you can drill holes for additional air too. On the fender side of the air box below the air filter, drill tow 2" holes with your hole saw, reach in and push back towards the firewall the stuffing in there, this is the cavity for air from the early 99 units. I did this and used a 1" drill bit to put 6 holes on my quicky "zoodad" setup (installed a mesh screen on it today when i found a couple of bees stuck on my AFE cone filter). Not sure if I get that much more air but any extra helps for the 4" exhaust and the SCMT .
Next step, SP diesel box
