Does anyone know of a tutorial or a step by step on how to rebuild and replace the seals with part numbers on the front hubs of my 05 excursion? Thanks, Ian. |

Make sure that you get the seals from FORD!
You can make a quick tool to install the seals with steel pipe from Home Depot.
Get 1 1/2 inch pipe, 2 foot long, this will just slip over the axle shafts.
You will need to get bolt down rail flanges and shave them down to size.
Put an end cap on the pipe.
Now carefully "press" the seals in place.
It is easier than it sounds just go slow and steady.
I found that if you use a pickle fort to remove the alignment sleeve from the
Upper ball joint the lower will almost drop out with a little tap from a 3-pound hammer.
Make sure that you replace both yellow O-rings, and the vacuum hose for your 4x4 hubs.
Good luck to you!

Here is another good tutorial for your hub maintenance.
http://www.guzzle7pt3.com/allube.php
Check around on Guzzle's site. Needle bearing maintenance is a good idea since you're gonn abe in there anyway.
