I really like this truck.great for the whole family.I have a couple of questions, but first it is a 2001,XLT,V10 38,000 miles.I paid $20,000 i think that was fair. after reading this forum i picked some Vcode springs,Front springs only.My question is will the truck be level or should i put blocks or more springs in the rear? Also will 235/85R-16 or even 255/85R-16 tires fit a stock excursion? I like the tall skinny tire look plus they do better in snow.
Thanks for your help

Ned,

Congrats on the purchase and welcome to the site!

Howdy, Ned, glad you found us.

I can't help much with the springs, but I can offer an opinion on tires. My dad's 2000 F250 4x4 PSD has 235/85-16 tires straight from the factory. He loves them. I assume they will fit your X beautifully. I can't say for sure, but I think 255s would also fit without rubbing.

I'm basing this opinion on the assumption that you have a 4x4. I believe 235s will also fit well on a 4x2. They should help your mileage some, too.

Both those tires will fit the stock rim & should clear.

The V-codes should make it level. Have you looked at the Spring Chart?

Yes, your computer will be off.

Those 255s will turn about 629 RPM. They are about 1.5 inches taller than stock.

Stock tires 265s turn about 657 RPM. That is a difference of a little less than 5% SLOWER.

Everything will be off 5%. I think, however, that the pCM can accomodate this small change. See your Ford dealer. He can vary the RPM (tires not engine) to a certain point. I do not know exactly.

You will get a little better highway mileage but acceleration may suffer.
