Not a longer EXCURSION but a longer EXPEDITION.

Jim,

Ford is not discontinuing the Excursion as yet. They are continuing for '04 and there is a possibility that they will continue through '06. Ford's reason for having, at first, decided to discontinue had to do with a new emissions law that would have prevented Ford from meeting the requirements that were to go into effect. Those restrictions concerned a tighter emissions law and a gas mileage requirement that Ford did not have enough time to address. Given that that law is in limbo at this time, Ford is continuing production. If the manufacturers are successful in delaying the proposed laws for SUV's specifically, they may be able to reach the expectations of the government. You can thank all the "Beer can" car owners for aggressively persuing this biased and descriminating law aimed at owners of real trucks and SUV's. Keep your fingers crossed that the manufacturers can find a resolve for this issue before the rolling speed bumps get their way.

Yeah.. ok its a big one all right. but so what.. My 2000 psd LTD gets better milage and carries bigger 2X4's with the rear window closed than my bronco did with the window open and it was half the wieght of the EX.

The EX happend along about the time that the market was flooded with all those urban assault off road wanna bee's and got a bum rap from the folks who don't know their butts from a hole in the ground.

The EX is just an F250 with nice seats and a cover. I've never heard anybody complain about pick up trucks as being gas guzzling road hazzard beheamoths and yet they are the same darn thing.
Go figgure.

Dave,

I couldn't agree with you more. These folks seem to forget that there are 3/4 and 1-ton trucks out there with the same mileage issues...as well as fulls-size vans, too. Way more pickups out there than Excursions.
