I just love my 2001 Excursion Limited V10!!!!!
Had a few questions for the pros here:
1st: What is the hook on the dashboard, right under the lighter, really for?
2nd: I love the fact that I have a 44 gallon gas tank, just wish I knew how to get more miles out of it with my 6.8L V10. Any suggestions? Does that "TORNADO" thing work?
3rd: I have til April 04 before the Factory warranty ends. Should I get EXTENDED WARRANTY from the dealer? If so which one?
4th: Does anyone know how to get the original window sticker, with all factory listed equipment?
Thank you All for all the help!
I love my new Excursion and this site, it helps me alot!!!
Thanks,
dp

Hi Darren,
Congrats on the new purchase and welcome to the site!!!
I can answer a couple questions for you:

I would not purchase it. Instead I would go with an K&N filter or filtercharger to replace your current air filter and/or filter box. Freer flowing exhaust would also help out power and mileage as well.

I purchased an extended warranty for my '00 X. You'll hear pros and cons from everybody but I consider it like buying extra insurance. Less to worry about, IMHO. If it were me, I would buy the extended warranty that covers the most amount of miles as possible. As far as how many years to get it extended, that will all depend on how much you drive your X in a year's time. I opted for the 4-year, 100,000 mile extended warranty. I'm already at 81,000 miles in 2.5 years so it looks like I will have estimated just right.
Enjoy the "X"!

Hi Darren,
I too will attempt to answer a few questions.
1. The hook is for the plastic shopping bags you get at the grocery store. You place the carrying handles in the hook and you groceries will not spill out as you take the corners.
2. Smoke and mirrors, save your money and just go easy on the gas pedal.
3. Try www.fordesp.com you can get a quote from Bob Beyer, Also do a search on the web, many dealers offer discounted prices for the extended warranty. You do not have to purchase the warranty from your local dealer. Really shop around, price vary greatly.
4. Try Kelly blue book site.

I like the sound of that. I'm about ready to unscrew the hook thingy and see if I can't do something useful with that space. Even an ashtray would be an improvement. At least you can put stuff in an ashtray.

The clip from my cell phone case snaps right over that hookie thing. And the charge cord hangs over it nicely. Works well with the power point being next to it. (my purse is too darn big for it anyhow....lol) |
