I'm probably going to be having my Excursion detailed this week. I'm not sure if I should wait until after the winter but I've neglected washing the X (inside and out) on a regular basis for most of last year. I just had my Galaxie done before putting it into storage for the winter and it turned out very nice. I'm curious if any others have paid to have their X detailed or not and if they have, what's been the ballpark price you've paid?
Next week I'm going out on a business trip (driving for 6 hours) with the owner of the company and we're taking the X. That's also some incentive to get it looking nice as well.

Never had any better results than doing it Myself. But I would say (depending how dirty) MUD? Grime? Engine cleaning? Probably around $150 to $250 is fair......... |

John,
They claim that whatever they do to it is supposed to last a while. I'm primarily interested in them steam cleaning the engine compartment and freshening up the interior. I think the Minnesota salt will destroy any efforts of keeping a shiny finish on the exterior. Hopefully the snow will hold up for a while so I can enjoy it.
It's $195 for me minus 10% because I brought the Galaxie in. The Galaxie took them all day, the Excursion's going to take them a while to finish! It takes me several hours if I just wash and vaccum the thing myself. That's definitely not happening anytime soon. It's supposed to be -11 degrees here tonight and in the single digits all week.

Car Washes here in the DFW area CLOSED when it may get too cold - two things I guess, one, they don't want to pay their people to stand around and two - all their plumbing freezes up !!!
We have a pretty smart feller near me that has a full service state of the art car wash he put in... for the full wash and interior cleaning on the Ex it's about $27.00(only had that done once since I bought the Ex in august)
To not lose bizness to the car washes at the gas stations and to keep his business up he offers an "Express Wash" that is just $5.00 for the outside !!! I've NEVER washed it myself - beats the gas station car washes in value and quality of the wash!
I take it about once every 10 days or so - it's WELL worth it...
one MORE benefit to the warm suthern climes !!!

On mine they washed and waxed the body, dress the tires if you want and steam clean the carpet and clean upholstery, dash etc. There was no engine cleaning included although it is available. My engine compartment was at worst dusty. I had this done in early spring. At the time I was recovering from a long hospital stay and did not feel up to doing it myself.
I have not had it detailed since. In the nice weather months I polish it often with Zaino. I have it hand washed every week. It's just to much work to do it myself and it's to tall for any drive through washes. I'm particular so The first thing I do after the hand wash is take it home and detail it out.
Winter is a different story. It's been in the garage and only taken out in good weather. It is at the 4x4 shop right now having some additional lift and related mods done to fit my new 39/18 Mickeys. Unfortunately it has now grown out of the garage and I may store it at least for the rest of the winter.
