Hello all
I'm looking for opinions. The situation is this: the auto tranny in my dad's 1999 f350 is in need of replacement. The truck is a crew cab, long box 4X4, and it's used to pull a fifth wheel camper. What I'm wondering is what valve body and shift kit we should get put in it. And if it was to be rebuilt completely, what companies are there out there that would do a full performance rebuild?
We're really interested in sticking with the automatic, don't want a stick for this one. Thanks in advance for opinions.

If you google a bit and tailor your search to the diesel end of the F-250 you will come across some intersting finds. I think bully dog and some of the other hi-po diesel companies have been doing modified torque converters and even full replacement transmissions to handle the outrageous torque that a fully modded 7.3 diesel can produce. I have seen dyno graphs with an excess of 1000lb/ft of torque with the diesel engines, so you might want to check around with some of those 'experts' or shops that at least cater to performance diesels. Just a thought. |

I run one of those modded diesel trucks. You didn't say what engine you have, but I will say that there are very few companies in the country that can do a good performance build up of the E4OD and/or 4R100. Brians truck shop in Lead Hill AR. and Suncoast transmissions in FL. are the two best in my opinion. Be prepared to spend some serious cash for a quality trans. Expect to pay about $3300-4000 including the T/C, and installation. Anything less and you are either getting a low ball quote or they do not know what they are doing.
